Willis Lane Lokey was born on December 21, 1934, at home in Seminole County, and departed this life on December 31, 2023, in Prague, at the age of 89. He was a longtime Prague resident.
Willis was the son of Floyd L. and Minnie S. (Reed) Lokey and was raised on the farm. He lived in rural Seminole County until the family moved to California when he was six years old. They returned to Oklahoma six years later and made their home in southeastern Lincoln County. Upon his return from California, he attended Lambdin School, just east of Prague. His education was completed in Prague, graduating from high school in 1954. He was active in FFA and excelled in athletics. He lettered in football, track and baseball. Following his graduation, he began working for Walter Starks as a delivery driver for the feed mill. A few years later, he began a long career with Redeker Transports, starting as a driver, but assuming the mechanics role within a few years. When Redeker Transports closed its doors in the early '90's, he converted his hobby of working on Farmall Tractors to his full-time employment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being at the lake, but most of all he loved to work. Willis married Maxine Sutterfield on December 31, 1954, and together they raised three sons. He was a 20-year member of the Prague Fire Department and was an active volunteer for the Athletic Booster Club. During his tenure, the booster club built the home bleachers for the football stadium at Prague. Those bleachers are still in use today.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Olena Gleason-Walker, a twin-sister, Lillis Gravitt, three brothers-in-law, Raymond Gleason, Perry Gravitt and Frank Walker, and a stepdaughter, Cindy Bullard.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Sherri Lokey of Yukon, Ron and Susan Lokey of Prague and Doug and Debbie Lokey of Prague.
