Vicki Lynn Waggoner was born Aug 9, 1945 in Stroud, OK to Gilbert Anthony Waggoner and Irene Marie Hartman Waggoner. Vicki departed this life on Friday Nov 11, 2022 at 1:20am at her home in Stroud surrounded by family.
The family always lived in Stroud except for a brief time when they moved to New Jersey. During this time Vicki, who was in grade school, thought her teacher was mean, would go get her younger brother Tony out of class and leave school to walk home on many occasions to make sure her mother knew she didn’t like it there and wanted to go back to Oklahoma. Her mother also would tell the story of when Vicki was young, and people asked her name her response was– “I Licky Lynn”
Vicki was a lifelong resident of Stroud. She graduated from Stroud High School in 1963 where she made many lifelong friends.
She married Loy Dewayne Jackson on June 10, 1963 in Stroud at the United Methodist Church. They had 2 daughters, Delynn and Joy.
Over the years she also acquired several additional “kids” that were friends of her daughters that she enjoyed feeding on a routine basis and they lovingly called her “Momma Vicki”. A name that continued throughout her life.
Vicki and Dewayne moved many times over the years but ended up back in Stroud in 1979 where they bought a historical home and beautifully renovated it.
Vicki worked and retired from Red Rock Mental Health Center where she worked as a Case Manager for 23 years. She was very patient and caring with her clients. They loved her and always made a point to hug her when they would run into her around town.
Vicki was involved in various aspects of the Stroud Alumni and loved working with her friends to organize events for their class.
She also started an outreach for women in the community that she called Forever Friends. It was a time of devotional, prayer, always desert and coffee and ending with a round or 2 of Bunco. She held this in her home for approximately 15 years. She loved her time with them and looked forward to it every week.
Vicki was preceded in death by both parents, Gilbert and Irene Waggoner, her grandmother, Gladys Loveall, sister Juanita Smith, brother Tony Waggoner Sr, nephew, Tony Waggoner Jr and niece Cindy Stephens.
She leaves behind her husband, Dewayne Jackson, daughter and son-in-law, Delynn and Pat Goode, daughter and son-in-law Joy and Mike Smith. Granddaughter Kirsten Gallagher and her husband Seth, grandaughter Erin Murfin, grandson Jared Murfin and wife Amy. 3 great grandchildren, Rivers & Blake Murfin and Drake Gallagher, nieces, nephews, extended family and many many friends.
