Our beloved husband, dad, and Papaw entered eternal rest on October 16, 2023, at the age of 87 years, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 26, 1935 in Prague, Oklahoma to Troy E. "Biggon" and Jewell M. (Bland) Terrell.
Sherman graduated from Centerview High School in 1956. He married Mary Jo (Marsh), his lifelong helpmeet, on June 5, 1957. He worked for a time for Parks Brothers in Prague, before beginning what would be his lifelong passion, farming. Sherman, along with his wife and family, spent countless hours engaged in agriculture, growing a variety of crops and raising livestock. He loved the farm life and poured himself into it. In the 1980's, Sherman added truck farming to his operation, and opened a new chapter of life. He was well known for his produce; growing watermelons, cantaloupes, sweet potatoes, and various other vegetable crops. Truck farming became the focus of his operation, lasting until 2016. In 1995, Sherman and his family purchased a feed store in Prague and began operating it as Terrell Farm Center. Many people came in not only to make a purchase, but to seek Sherman's advice, on anything from planting crops to doctoring sick livestock to any number of other agriculture related issues. He sold the store in 1999 but continued to farm. He could not be worked down, nor did
he have any quit in him. He truly enjoyed working.
Sherman did enjoy the outdoors. He spent many days afield pursuing quail, and many nights running hounds, usually after a hard day's work.
Sherman was a member of Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church for most of his life. He served as a Sunday School teacher, music leader, deacon, and was a faithful member. He lived his faith out loud, and taught his family to love the Lord
and devote themselves to His service. The only day he wouldn't work was Sunday. Sherman sang lead in the Garden Grove Quartet for many years, along with his sister Helen Chastain, and long-time friends Bobby and Betty Denney.
Sunday services were not the same when The Quartet didn't sing.
Sherman is survived by by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Jo, of the home, and their three children; daughter Lisa and Monty Stewart, son Chris and Sheila Terrell, and son Darren and Michelle Terrell, all of Prague. He is also survived by
