Robert Jason Suggs was born on January 23, 1934, in Paden, Oklahoma, to Robert Homer and Bertha (Prevett) Suggs. He departed this life on November 17, 2025, in Edmond, Oklahoma, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and a lifetime of hard work.
On February 14, 1954, Robert married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Holland. Together they made their home in Midwest City, Oklahoma, where they lovingly raised their two children, Stan and Terri. Robert was devoted to his family, always present, always encouraging, and always willing to go above and beyond to support his children in every endeavor.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, spending two years stationed in Germany. After returning home, he discovered his true calling: working hard and helping others. He began his career at Tinker Air Force Base, where he became a decorated and highly sought-after computer programming technician. His dedication and expertise made him a respected colleague, and he remained with Tinker until his retirement.
Never one to sit still, Robert continued serving his community by becoming a school bus driver for Midwest City Public Schools. He cherished the opportunity to interact with and care for the students, and his gentle nature and kind smile left a lasting impression on countless young people.
Robert’s work ethic extended far beyond the workplace. Whether completing projects around the house, helping maintain his beloved Ridgecrest Church of Christ, or lending a hand to neighbors and friends, Robert was always ready to serve. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and became exceptionally skilled at his craft. As a young man, he loved quail hunting and even raised Brittany spaniels as hunting companions.
A man of deep faith, Robert was kind, humble, and steadfast. He never met a stranger and carried a gentle heart throughout his life. He loved to sing, and gospel music was a constant source of joy and encouragement to him. His “never give up” spirit inspired his family and everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Ruth Ann Suggs; his infant child, Baby Suggs and his sisters, Aleta Neely, Katherene Warden, Joyce Beavers, and Betty Lou Suggs.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Stan Suggs; his daughter, Terri Lynn Owen; his grandson, Tanner Owen and his wife, Julia; along with a host of extended family and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
