Richard Milton Lofgren

July 22, 1953 — October 20, 2025

Prague

Richard Melton Lofgren, of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on October 20, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born on July 22, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and spent his early years in Tulsa, where he was known for his athletic ability and spirited personality.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy, working as a mechanic aboard an aircraft carrier. Following his service, he pursued his love of food and cooking by attending culinary school in Okmulgee. His skills led him to work as a prep chef at Cattlemen’s in Oklahoma City, where he found joy in sharing meals and creating for others.

A true Oklahoma Sooners fan, Richard also cheered for the Dallas Cowboys and loved listening to Elvis. He was rarely without a Dr. Pepper in hand and was known for his ornery sense of humor, which brought smiles and laughter to those around him. He was a hardworking family man whose love for his children, grandchildren, and extended family was evident throughout his life.

In recent years, Richard was a longtime resident of Stroud Healthcare Center before moving to Parkland Manor in Prague due to illness.

He is survived by his son, Richard Lofgren Jr. of San Angelo, Texas; his daughters, Megan Brashar of Webb City, Missouri, Sherree Luera and her husband, Terezo, of Abernathy, Texas, and Janis Kay Lofgren of San Angelo, Texas; and his grandsons, Markas Luera and Royce Luera. He is also survived by his sisters, Elaine Leek and her husband, Thomas, of Prague, Vicky McCullough of Paden, and Jodi Thurman of Wichita, Kansas; his brother, Jerry Funk and his wife, Geneann, of Enid; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
