Opal Louise Mayfield

January 29, 1931 — March 5, 2015

Opal Louise Mayfield was born on January 29, 1931, in Paden, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, March 5, 2015, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. Opal, the daughter of Simpson and Gladys (Funchess) Wilson, was a resident of Paden. In her younger years, she picked cotton on her grandparents farm and was quite the pecan picker. She married Vester Mayfield on June 29, 1951. Opal worked at Bluebell Wrangler in Okemah, the Prague Nursing Home, and was a member of the Burnett Mission Church. Her parents; son, Roger Mayfield; and sister, Helen Ray, preceded Opal in death. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Vester Mayfield of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bob Rosson of Shawnee; grandchildren, Jason, Aaron, and Joseph Rosson; other relatives and many friends. The Mayfield family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
