Mary Ruth Blaney, 91, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2024, in Prague, Oklahoma.
Mary was born on August 3, 1933, in Kendrick, Oklahoma to Orville and Opal (Miller) Smith.
She attended school in Davenport, Oklahoma. Mary married George Worrell Blaney Jr. on July
9, 1949, in Davenport. George preceded Mary in death on December 30, 2006.
Throughout the years, Mary worked at Deiner Mills Clothing Factory in Chandler, Oklahoma, at
a fiberglass factory making boats, campers, ect., and spent several years as a well pumper for
C.W. Oil in Oklahoma City. She was truly a hard worker as she, along with George, raised cattle
and hogs as well. When Mary wasn’t working, she enjoyed maintaining her flower and vegetable
gardens and canning. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and needle point, and was a big OU
fan. Boomer Sooner!
Mary was associated with the First Assembly of God Church, Wellston, Oklahoma.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George Blaney, Jr.; her parents, Orville
and Opal Smith; a granddaughter, Gina Thronesbery; 2 sisters, Dowanna Lamb, and Joyce
Henry; and a brother, Melvin Smith.
Mary is survived by 3 daughters, Virginia Thronesbery and her husband Ray Thronesbery, Janice
Dill and her husband Kenneth Dill, and Marilyn Davis and her husband Robbie Davis; 6
grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces; 2 nephews; as well as a host of other family and
friends.
