Margret Neoma Trautwein

February 24, 1924 — June 7, 2025

Jacktown

Margret Neoma Trautwein of Jacktown, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2025, at the age of 101. Margret was born on February 24, 1924, in Pleasanton, Nebraska, to Lewis and Freida Virginia (Gunst) Morgan. She graduated from Pleasanton High School and went on to attend the Kearney Teacher’s College (now the University of Nebraska-Kearney).

On April 11, 1949, she married the love of her life, Donald Frederick Trautwein, in Pleasanton. Their marriage was one of love, resilience, and adventure, lasting until Donald's passing in 2001. Together, they raised two daughters, Terry and Dawn, and traveled the world as Donald served as a Colonel in the United States Air Force. Throughout more than 20 moves, Margret embraced each new place as an opportunity, turning each house into a warm and welcoming home. Her daughters remember her as the one who always made the best of change—treating each move as a new adventure.

Margret was actively involved in Officer’s Wives Clubs, where she formed lasting friendships and offered steadfast support to fellow military families. She had a natural gift for hospitality—whether she was planning a celebration or simply hosting friends, she was always the life of the party, filling every room with laughter and joy.

After retiring, Margret and Donald lived in Colorado for two decades before moving to Oklahoma in 1996 to be closer to family. She loved gardening, sewing, traveling, and most of all, spoiling her grandchildren. She delighted in watching her family grow and always had a smile and a story to share.

Margret was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Maxine Spongberg, and her brother Dean Morgan.

She is survived by her daughters, Terry Mason and her husband, Terry, of Jacktown, Oklahoma, and Dawn Bleichner and her husband, John, of Seattle, Washington; five grandchildren, Rebecca Cavnar and her husband, Brandon, Rachel Ricker and her husband, Zach, Jeff Bleichner and his wife, Leslie, Bethany Cooper and her husband, Tim, and Dan Bleichner and his wife, Lindsey; eleven great-grandchildren: Lennon, Charlotte, Junia, Jonah, Joseph, Elealeh, Evangeline, Elise, Neoma, Joanna, and Gideon and her very special friend, Beth Hooper.
