Lois Marie Martin

Lois Marie (Cox) Martin passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 in Hickory. North Carolina, at the age of 91. Lois was born on March 19, 1933 in Big Rapids, Michigan and was the daughter of Merrel Henry Earnest and Celia Jane (Cook) Cox. Lois grew up in Big Rapids and attended schools in the Morley and Stanwood, Michigan area. Lois married Edward C. Martin on February 23, 1952 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Together, the couple raised three children, Mary, Brian, and Mark Lois and Edward were married for 38 years before Edward preceded her in death on June 22, 1990.

Lois enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crocheting and was a skilled cake decorator. She even baked and decorated her brother Wayne's wedding cake.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 38 years, Edward C. Martin; her son, Mark Edward Martin and her grandson, Chris Martin; her sister, Betty (Cox) Howe and two brothers, Wayne and Norman Cox.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mary Marie Slauson; her son, Brian E. Martin; two grandchildren, Sean Slauson and Melisa Farrell; seven great-grandchildren, Adam Slauson, Ethan Slauson, Morgan Farrell, Charles Farrell, Jennifer Hicks, Christine Hicks and Lydia Hicks, also two great, great grandchildren; Sisters-in-law Bonnie Cox and Louise Cox, and a host of family and friends.
