Leo Michael "Mike" Moore Jr, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, in Texas. Mike was born on Wednesday, August 24, 1955 in Prague, Oklahoma. He was the son of Leo Michael and Frances Lena (Jezek) Moore. Mike grew up in Prague, attending Prague Public Schools and was a 1973 graduate of Prague High School. Following high school, Mike attended Oklahoma State University, where he graduated and received a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration. While in high school, Mike played football and baseball, but his claim to fame was playing the trumpet in the Prague High School Band. His love of the trumpet and music carried with him throughout his life. While at Oklahoma State, Mike was a proud member of the Oklahoma State Marching Band. After college, Mike focused his love of music on his Czech heritage and started his own polka band. Throughout his life Mike played Taps, honoring veterans within the community, and continued the family legacy his “Poppy J”, Charles Jezek, began by playing the trumpet for the annual Memorial Day Services with the American Legion. Mike was also an accomplished businessman, spending most of his career in the retail grocery industry. He grew up helping his parents operate their grocery store, Moore’s Market in Prague. After college, Mike followed in their footsteps working for multiple grocery companies and even owning and operating Moore’s Market for several years after his parents’ retirement. He was an award-winning store manager, merchandiser, and district manager, and his successful career supported his family over many years and across several states until his retirement in 2015. Mike was a passionate man. He loved music, hunting, gardening, traveling, and celebrating his Czech heritage making homemade klobase. He was an active member of the Catholic Church, and remained involved in the Knights of Columbus and other parish men’s groups for most of his life. He enjoyed being around people, and was considered a pillar of the community. However, his greatest passion was that of his family. Mike married the love of his life, Sandra Jean (Mason) Moore on February 18, 1989 and the two were happily married for over 33 years. Mike reveled in the fact that he had married his best friend, and they spent their days enjoying time with their children and grandchildren.
