Imogene Thompson Ledgerwood was born on February 28, 1944 and departed this life on August 2, 2023.
Jean was born to Emery and Alice (Jones) Thompson. Jean has lived most of her life around the Creek/Lincoln County area. Jean met and married James Ledgerwood on April 23, 1962 in Okemah and were married for 61 years. She worked 14 years at Don’s IGA meat department in Stroud with long-time friend Clyde Barrett. Soon after retirement, she started her many hobbies of gardening and building her yard into a beautiful oasis full of goldfish ponds, rock waterfalls, hostas, sunflowers, morning glories, peonies and bird feeders. She would make her son, Glen and son-in-law John search all over for the biggest and heaviest rocks for her rock river and goldfish ponds. You would find her in her yard from sunup to sundown. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, reading her bible, painting, cross-stitch and crocheting and canning vegetables from her garden. Her favorite time was her weekly outing with James to the bowling alley where they were in a league. She loved the holidays when she could cook her amazing Thanksgiving meals and display her Christmas village that took weeks to build each year. She also loved playing her card games and puzzles on her computer. Traveling was her favorite past-time from Washington, Graceland, Grand Old Opry and Branson to family camping trips, anything outside – she loved it.
