Dennis L. English was born on December 5, 1918 in Stroud, Oklahhoma to Charley Robert and Alva Mae Buchan English. He went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2004. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. Dennis grew up in the Stroud area, attended school there and later went on to OSU in Stillwater. He helped form the first Chapter of Future Farmers of America in Oklahoma and was their first State President. He served as a Sergeant in the Eighth Air Force during World War II in an aviation control tower in England. Dennis was married to Juanita Sullivan on January 6, 1946 and to this union three children were born. He raised cattle and worked in the electrical trade until 1970 when he became the building superintendent at Central Vo Tech in Drumright and later taught electrical trades at that facility. The family moved to Drumight in 1972. He retired in 1983 and continued to live in Drumright until December of 2000 when the couple moved to Maud, Oklahoma. Dennis joined the First Christian Church in 1957 and was a member of the Stroud Christian Church for many years where he was active as an Elder, Board Member, and Sunday School Superintendent. Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends. Dennis is survived by his wife Juanita of the home, one brother Darrell English and wife Lana of Stroud, one son Larry English and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two daughters Jane Schmit and husband Jim of Maud, Oklahoma, Shirley Schoonmaker and husband Kenny of Rogers, Arkansas. He was also survived by seven grandchildren, Michelle Callis and husband Scott of Lake Dallas, Texas, Todd English and wife Billie of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Stephanie VanMeter and husband Erik of Dublin, Ohio, Darrell Newcomb and fiance Tamara Wilburn of Stillwater, Oklahoma, David English and wife Amanda of Owasso, Oklahoma, Stephen Remington and wife Courtney of Cushing, Oklahoma, Christi Swan and husband Nathan of Lampe, Missouri and seven great grandchildren, Kannon Rutter, Kaleigh Callis, Alex English, Kate VanMeter, Sean and Matthew English, two nephews, Charles and wife Missy of Bristow and Derrick English of Stroud, Oklahoma and numerous other relatives and friends.
