David Anthony Abdoo

October 13, 1955 — November 21, 2024

Chandler

Master Sergeant David Anthony Abdoo was born to Vernon Abdoo and Bernice Keener (Abdoo) Harwell on October 13, 1955, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age.

David joined the United States Army, graduating high school in Honolulu, Hawaii, while stationed at U.S. Schofield Barracks. He then forward-deployed to Korea, where he served in the Artillery Unit.

After his enlistment, he returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to care for his mother. In 1981, he married Ida Marie Tilghman, and their union was blessed with a son, Christopher Tilghman Abdoo, born on August 6, 1985.

David later joined the 507th Air Refueling Reserve Wing at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, serving as a Civil Engineer. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant and retired after 20 years of faithful service in 2005. Alongside his military career, “Sarge” worked as an Aerospace Maintenance professional in various trades, retiring in December 2018 after dedicating 24 years in federal civil service.

David “Sarge” was proud to serve his country and his fellow man in any way he could—through his leadership, a helping hand, advice, or an occasional joke or story to uplift and encourage those around him.

David was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Abdoo; his mother, Bernice Keener (Abdoo) Harwell; and his half-brother, Rick Moon.

David “Sarge” leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Christopher Tilghman Abdoo (CO); the love of his life, Ida Marie Tilghman (TN); his friend and cousin, Tom Moon (OK); a special nephew, Eric Moon (TX); his dear cowgirl cousin, Arlene Tiffany (OK); his ever vigilant cousin, Debbi (Enkey) Sumrall (OK); his sweet cousin, Beverly Swann (FL); a bonus son, Rodney Bell (OK & TN); and a host of amazing friends he’s made along the way—who have become like family in their own way.
