Darrell “Kent” Brown, of Paden, Oklahoma, passed away on January 10, 2025 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 55. Kent was born on June 5, 1969 in Prague, Oklahoma. He was the son of Morris Marion and Katie Oneta (Mayfield) Brown. Kent grew up in Paden and was a graduate of Okemah High School.
Kent was known for his strength, his stubbornness, his faith, his love for friends and family and for his big smile. From birth, Kent was born with a hole in his heart and through prayer and surgery, he fought through it to live a long and full life. Kent enjoyed many things, he enjoyed being around people, playing the harmonica and going to church. He never met a stranger and if he learned your name, you were one of his closest friends. Kent also had quite an ornery side as well. He loved to argue and debate with anyone that he could. He was well known in Paden, even having his own special parking spot in town labeled “Mayor Kent Brown.”
Kent loved many and was loved by many. He made a lasting impact on everyone he came across and will be greatly missed.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, niece, Marissa Mayfield, and nephew, Dustin Brown.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Stan Brown and his wife, Naomi, Wendell Brown and his wife, Melanie, David Brown and his wife, Kathy; two sisters, Glenda Mayfield and Jana Cheatwood and her husband, Chris. His caretakers for many years, Jimmy and Bobbie Watts and their family, Tripp, Traxton, Trenton, Trevor, Tallie and Debra Caton; nieces and nephews: Shane Brown, Brandon Brown, Marty Mayfield, Marla Lester, Melania Roseberry, Misti Martin, Miranda Mayfield, Ryan Brown, Bridgette Moore, Amanda Williams, Eric Brown, Kylie Tappe, Josh Cheatwood, Tyler Cheatwood, Kyle Cheatwood, Trevor Cheatwood, and Tanner Cheatwood and a host of family and friends.
