Bonita Marie (Cole) Coker was born on June 8, 1944 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed away on January 8, 2026 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 81. Bonita was the daughter of Gorrell and Ruby (Rutz) Cole.
Bonita married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Coker in Oklahoma City on September 2, 1960 and the two were married for sixty-five years and four months. Together, Bonita and Jerry raised their four children in Paden, Oklahoma.
Bonita was co-owner of their family business of forty years, Coker’s Trash Service and A1 Trash Service. Bonita not only handled most of the office work for their business, but in the early years, even ran trucks and ran trash routes alongside of her husband.
Bonita, known as, “Bonnie” to family and friends was a homemaker that loved to garden, crotchet, listen to her Elvis and gospel music. She was part of a bowling league with her daughter, sister, sister-in-law and friends for several years. Bonnie loved to travel with her husband and together they explored many places. She loved to collect porcelain dolls.
Bonita was a huge Elvis fan and her children would tease that she had more Elvis memorabilia on the walls than photos of them. She would glance at the walls and laugh. Bonita and Jerry were long time members of the Deer Creek Baptist Church.
Bonita was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Coker Jr.; her daughter, Donna (Coker) Peeler; her grandson, Aaron Keith Carlock; her granddaughter, Isabella Rowsey; her parents, Gorrell and Ruby Cole; her sisters, Nancy Riley, Mary Ann Elwood and Carol Himes; and her brother, Archie Cole.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Coker, of the home; her son, Boyd Coker and his wife, Wanette Coker of Canadian; her daughter, Diann Carlock and her husband, Hank, of Branson, Missouri; her grandchildren, Leroy Thomas of Allen, Michele Thomas and her partner, Steven Rowsey of Allen, Jerry Peeler and his wife, Kesry of Wetumka, Andrea Norman of Canadian, Cher Kitson and her husband, Jacob, of Wyoming, Steven Coker and his wife, Lacy, of Prague, Jamie Mears and her husband, Scott, of Celina, Texas, Douglas Peeler of Sparks, Boyd Coker II and his wife, Amy of Oklahoma City, Michele Harbison of Seminole, Kurtis Coker and his fiancé, Tulsa, of Prague, Lloyd Carlock and his wife, Markie of Prague, and Jeremy Carlock and his wife, Laura of Branson, Missouri; thirty-three great-grandchildren, nine great, great-grandchildren; her fur babies, Jigs and D and host of family and friends.
