Bobby Joe ?Bob? Chartney, age 72, was born on August 12, 1931, in Harrah, OK, and departed this life on Friday, July 2, 2004, in Norman, OK. Bob was the son of Moses and Geneva Allenbaugh Chartney. He attended State Center and Jones schools and then served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Bob worked in maintenance at Tinker AFB for 30 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to quail, pheasant and deer hunt. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Max; and one son, Kenneth. Survivors include 1 son, Loval Joe Chartney, Harrah, OK; 1 daughter & son-in-law, Pam & David Stricklind, Bakersfield, CA; 5 brothers & 4 sisters-in-law, Sid Chartney, Edmond, OK, Don & Roberta Chartney, Harrah, OK, Richard & Cindy Chartney, Harrah, OK, Larry & Ruby Chartney, Harrah, OK, Gary & Mona Chartney, Harrah, OK; 4 sisters & 2 brothers-in-law, Betty Treadway, Edmond, OK, Kathy Chartney, Edmond, OK, Marilyn & Alfred Merkle, Arcadia, OK, Robin & Jerry Peters, Clayton, OK; 5 grandchildren,Justin Chartney, Jason Truitt, Jeremy Truitt, Baylee Stricklind & Amber Chartney; 5 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK, with Dr. Dan Campbell officiating. Burial will be private. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
