Bertha Catherine Childress

Bertha (Bea) Catherine Childress was born on August 13, 1931. She passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at the age of 85, after a long battle with COPD. Bertha is survived by 5 children: Denver Childress and his wife Kelly, of Shawnee; Flora Childress of Meeker; Debra Brink of Sparks; Houston Childress, of Meeker; Sherri Buchanan and her husband Lonnie, of Chandler. Bertha is survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Bertha, the daughter of Bill and Ethel (McGuire) Durham, was a resident of Meeker. Bea lived a long full life and loved to be surrounded by her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and she will be missed. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Charlotte (Moon) Childress and Elden Childress; although long divorced, the only man she ever loved and the father of her children, Jesse Houston Childress and many other family members. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29, at 2:00 PM, at the Picket Sunnyside Cemetery in Meeker with Jeff Bruton officiating. Mrs. Childress is in the care of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
