Beatrice Marie Rowlen

Beatrice Marie Rowlen, age 90, of Jones, OK, was born January 18, 1924, in Flora, Indiana. She was the daughter of Elmo James & Beatrice Lavon (Michael) Powell. She left this life on Friday, May 30, 2014, at her home in Jones, OK. WWII brought Marie and Arthur Rowlen together at a USO dance. They married on July 28, 1943, in Flora, IN. They soon moved to Arthur's family farm near Jones, OK, where she has since resided. She was a beautician, a tax preparer, and worked for the post office at the Shartel Station in Oklahoma City. Marie has been a member of the Jones Christian Church since 1950, and was a very active member in the Jones Rebekah Lodge. Always one to keep busy, in her early 80s she joined a bowling league. Reading, working puzzles, sewing, quilting and crafts of all kinds, especially working with stained glass, were among the hobbies she loved. Marie's parents, husband, 3 sisters and 1 brother preceded her in death. She is survived by 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Richard & Carol Rowlen, Jones, OK; John & Dawn Rowlen, Jones, OK; 3 daughters & son-in-law, Cheryl & Joe Bell, Nixa, MO; Bonnie James, Jones, OK; Pamela Pierce, Jones, OK; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at the Jones Christian Church, 200 SW 2nd Street, Jones, OK. Interment will follow at Jones IOOF Cemetery, Jones, OK.
