Barbara Sue Arnold passed away to her Heavenly home on October 15, 2024 in Springfield, MO.
Barbara was born the 3rd of 5 daughters on June 6,1940 to Alfred and Dorothy Biles in Winfield, KS. Barbara and her family spent most of her childhood and young adulthood in El Dorado, Kansas. Following a truly successful date, she married Robert Don Arnold in 1958 and worked as a beautician to help support the family while Bob continued his education. They moved to Stroud, OK in the late 60's where Barbara worked for Dr. Markert's medical office as his receptionist. Barbara and Bob moved to Fort Smith, AR in 1973 and Lavaca, AR in 1978 where she continued working in the medical field and ultimately obtained her real estate license. After their time there they moved to Murfreesboro, TN for approximately 8 years then on to Albany, GA for 10 years where she was the administrative assistant for Dr. Gorham Black, of Albany State University and later for Bob Green in agricultural real estate. Finally, Barbara and Bob retired to Republic, MO where they have been for the last 20 years. They enjoyed many trips together over the years throughout America, Canada, and the Bahamas.
Barbara was a very classy lady and an amazing woman who was self-taught in so many areas of her life. She loved to learn and gather knowledge, teaching herself how to play piano and organ, particularly classic music. She also loved to crochet, making numerous afghans for family members and dear friends. Barbara also enjoyed horses, owning an Arabian gelding named Naji. She was a wonderful cook being known for her baked beans and signature carrot cake recipes. There wasn't much Barbara couldn't do and she did it with grace even up until her last days. The best way to describe Barbara is to say she was a Proverbs 31 woman. She was a woman who was devoted to God and had loyalty, wisdom, self-discipline, was God-Fearing, industrious, and blessed others. Her love, style and grace will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Dorothy Biles and her sister, Shirley Koch.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years Robert D. Arnold of the home; son Scott Arnold and wife Mary of Eureka Springs, AR; daughter Dayna Nicholas and husband Gene of Cabot, AR; grandson Wesley Arnold and wife Rachel of Tulsa, OK; grandson Shaun Edwards and wife Deirdre of Spokane, WA; grandson Adrian Nicholas and significant other Bailey Kramer of Maumelle, AR; granddaughter Jennifer Throgmorton and husband Tad of Lavaca, AR; great grandson Hayden Chapman of Lavaca, AR; great granddaughters Kayleigh Arnold, Baley Helmert, Olivia Arnold, and Aislin Edwards; sister Rosemary Glauser of Saint Louis, MO; sister Sandy Warner of Hutchinson, KS; sister Penny Mangrum and husband Al of Sherdan, AR; sister in law Edna Arnold of Stroud, OK; dear friends and neighbors Krisi and John Parker and their sons Jake, Chad and Scott; as well as many extended family and friends.
