Lt. Col Dennis 'Bud' Canant, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born on March 6, 1925, in Payson, Oklahoma, and departed this life on May 2, 2018, at his home in Chandler, at the age of 93 years. Dennis was the son of Barney and Carrie (Baker) Canant. He graduated from Meeker High School in 1942. Dennis enlisted in the United States Army in 1943, and retired in 1967, with the rank of Lt. Col after serving 23 years. He served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers during World War II, two tours in Korea, and served in Vietnam. Dennis was awarded the Bronze Star, Legion of Merit and the Army Commendation Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters. He married his high school sweetheart Pauline 'Jackie' Cowan on June 9, 1945. Dennis's hobbies included gardening, going out to eat, and spending time with his friends. He will be greatly missed. His parents, and sisters preceded Dennis in death. Survivors include his wife of seventy-two years, Pauline 'Jackie' Canant of the home; special friends, Frank Mitchell of Chandler, and Marj Bender of Chandler; other relatives and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, May 7, 2018, at the White Dove Cemetery in Sparks, Oklahoma, with Rev. Doyle Seeley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
