Leon Allen Brown, life-long Lincoln County, Oklahoma, resident was born on May 14, 1925, near Sparks, Oklahoma, and departed this life on February 4, 2013, in Chandler at the age of 87 years. Leon was the son of Oakes and Gertrude (Heard) Brown. He joined the United States Navy during his senior year in high school and served during WWII. Leon married Leota Goodnight on May 28, 1947. He worked as a tool and die machinist at Tinker Air Force Base for many years. In 2001, Leon received his honorary high school diploma from Chandler High School, class of 1944. Leon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chandler. His parents, one sister, and two brothers, preceded Leon in death. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Leota of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Susan Brown of Edmond, Oklahoma, two daughters and son-in-law, Kathy Newman of Cushing, Oklahoman, Annette and Carroll Earp of Chandler, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Chandler, with Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
