LaDonna 'Sue' Nickel, 78, beloved wife and mother, was called to her eternal rest on September 22, 2017, in Harrah, OK. She was born to Marie (Priest) and Willard Pace on February 24, 1939 in Oklahoma City, OK. Sue married Raymond Nickel on January 30, 1959 and they made their home in Harrah for over 58 years. Sue came to live in Harrah at age 3 and later attended Harrah schools, graduating from the high school in 1957. She was a secretary at Harrah High School for 17 years and then transitioned to treasurer of the Harrah School District for 12 years before retiring to enjoy her home on an acreage in the country north of town. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a member of the Retired Teachers Association and supported the Harrah History Center. She loved to fish and enjoyed dancing, cooking and gardening. Sue's smile could light up a room and she and Raymond made many close friends while traveling to listen and dance to Western Swing music. As she slowed down, Sue wouldn't miss watching her OSU Cowboys' broadcasts, especially basketball, and she later became a Thunder fan too. The family would like to thank caregivers Gwen, Mary, Amanda, and special caregiver, Irish, and other members of Noval Senior Care, AllianceHealth - Midwest City, Wolfe Living Center at Summit Ridge, and Emerald Hospice for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Research Foundation (http://parkinsonhope.org/) or the St. Teresa of Avila Altar Society. Sue is survived by her husband Raymond and son Tony and his wife Cindi. Rosary will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, with interment to follow in St. Teresa Catholic Cemetery. Services are under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service and tributes and condolences may be left on the website.
