James Harold Garner, 81, of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. James was born on February 15, 1938 in Prague to Harold and Lorene Garner. He graduated from Centerview High School in 1956. On September 28, 1956, James married his high school sweetheart, Betty Bland, and together they made Prague their home and raised three children. James was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Prague. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base. James enjoyed hunting, fishing camping and four wheeling. He was the founder of the Econtuchka Hunting Club and his personal motto was “DHAT” which stood for “Deer Hunters are Tough.” More than anything, James enjoyed spending time with his family, joking around, and making people laugh. James was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Silas Young; and a stepsister, Freda Collins. James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Garner; daughter, Nancy Garner Pickard and her husband Bryan of Prague, daughter LaDonna Garner Markert and her husband Conrad of Stroud, and a son, Richard Harold Garner and his wife, Janie of Prague; and a sister, Linda Garner Terrell and her husband, Butch. James is also survived by grandchildren, Jason Barnett and wife Brook of Norman, Justin Barnett of Chickasaw, Elicia Garner of Prague, Brandon Pickard and wife Tara of Prague, Travis Pickard and wife Kim of Prague, Steve Walters and wife Lacey of Chandler, Caleb Marx and wife Lauren of Edmond, Stephanie Troutner of Prague, and Jeremy VanBrunt and wife Michelle of Prague. James is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and host of other family members and friends.
