Sharon Kaye
Loy
March 20, 1942 – May 23, 2026
Sunnyside - Pickett Cemetery
10:00 - 11:00 am (Central time)
With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sharon Kaye Coy Loy. Having lost “her Roy” to cancer in February of this year, she succumbed to pneumonia, sepsis, and a broken heart on May 23, 2026, for her eternity with Jesus and her Roy.
Sharon was spotted by the love of her life, Roy Sherman Loy, while hanging upside-down on monkey bars at Chandler High School. Their love grew quickly, and they married in her family’s home in Chandler, Oklahoma on July 18, 1958, when she was 16. They made their home in Meeker, Oklahoma not long after their marriage and enjoyed all their years together there. Sharon and Roy would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year. From the moment they were married, they were never meant to be apart.
Sharon was born on March 20, 1942, in Stroud, Oklahoma to Zelda Coombs Coy and Willard “Sam” Osborn Coy. She was raised to love and cherish family and friends, and she proudly carried that legacy forward. She became an incredible cook which made everyone want to be at her table or find what she brought to a gathering.
Sharon had a servant’s heart and was very proud of her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working in surgery at Shawnee Medical Center for over 30 years. She built numerous lifelong friendships with doctors and nurses while she was there. Even though she had been retired for 20 years, many still remembered her and were gracious in caring for her during her illness.
She was always looking for a sale and shopping for others. Retirement gave her the time to search for treasures at garage sales, estate sales, and auctions. Her search for the best recipes to prepare for others became a massive cookbook collection of over 4,000 books. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, especially hummingbirds, and had fun with her collection of pigs.
Sharon’s deepest joy was found with her husband and family. It was always clear that Roy was the love of her life. They married so young, she said they were babies raising babies, but they were committed to making life fun and enjoyable for them. She made up little love poems for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that are still shared among them today. She loved to make the little ones giggle and squeal with delight at her peacock call and little songs. She loved making the older ones laugh with shocking remarks. She was a true matriarch for the family and loved watching her family grow. Her smile, laughter, love for family, and recipes will live on with us forever.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Sherman Loy; her parents, Zelda and Sam Coy; and her sister, Martha Mae Coy.
Sharon is survived by her son Scott Loy; daughter Michelle Day; son, Marc Loy and his wife Randi; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Gary Coy; her sister, Sue Coy; her brother-in-law, Joe Loy and his wife Charlene; her sister-in-law, Lorene Richardson; many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other extended family members and friends.
