IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rhonda Jean
Boomershine
October 19, 1956 – January 30, 2026
Rhonda Jean Yancey Boomershine, 69, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on January 30, 2026, in Stroud, Oklahoma. She was born on October 19, 1956, in Wichita, Kansas, to Edmond and Juanita (Jones) Yancey.
Rhonda’s life was defined by compassion, perseverance, and a deep love for her family and friends. Born in Wichita, her family moved to Southern California when she was very young before settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1971. She was a 1974 graduate of East Central High School in Tulsa. She put down roots in Tulsa and built a full life of deep and persistent personal and professional relationships. In her final years of life, Rhonda made her home in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Rhonda devoted her career to healthcare, a calling that reflected her caring, dedication and indomitable spirit. Beginning her long career at the Saint Francis Healthcare System as a technician, she steadily advanced through determination and hard work. As an adult and single mother, she returned to school to fulfill her dream of becoming a registered nurse. She spent decades serving others as an emergency room nurse, where her fierce competence, steady presence, and instinctive compassion made a lasting impact on countless patients and colleagues, including friends and family that passed through the emergency room under her care.
A naturally social person, Rhonda maintained a wide circle of friends and took great joy in staying connected with those she loved. She enjoyed collecting jewelry, traveling, and spending time with her people. She was especially devoted to her beloved dog, Savannah, and had a lifelong passion for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Above all, Rhonda passionately loved her family, who were the center of her world.
Rhonda was a lifelong Christian who found strength, comfort and meaning in her relationship with God. During her brightest moments, she was sincerely thankful and on her darkest days she took solace in the promise of a joyful reunion with her friends and family, especially her parents, who she had lost and would find waiting for her on the other side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Juanita Yancey, whom she remembered fondly and frequently. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Leon Boomershine and his wife, Mary, and Beau Boomershine and his wife, Tonya; her grandchildren, Xavier Boomershine, Xaak Boomershine, Wyatt Boomershine, and Hank Boomershine; her brother, Tim Yancey; her nephews, Aaron Yancey and Adam Yancey; and a host of family members and beloved friends. She earnestly embraced her roles as child, mother and sister.
Rhonda had a vibrant personality and a big heart. She felt everything - love, anger, joy, pain, happiness and sadness - deeply and with her whole self. She played the various hands dealt to her to the best of her ability. She was a complex, beautiful and many-faceted person who left a meaningful impact on the people in her life. She will be missed and well-remembered.
The family is in the process of organizing a celebration of Rhonda’s life, with details to be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (https://www.dbsalliance.org), in consideration for Rhonda’s long struggle with mental health.
