Ralph Eugene Britton, a resident of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Prague, at the age of 71. Ralph was born on June 1, 1955, in Bryan, Texas. He was the son of Wesley Britton and Virginia (Hightower) Plunkett and was also raised by his stepfather, Alvin Plunkett.

Ralph attended Tishomingo High School in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, where he graduated before answering the call to serve his country. Following high school, Ralph joined the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served during the Vietnam era from 1973 until 1977. His time in the Marines remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

Over the years, Ralph worked in a variety of fields and was never afraid of hard work. He worked for Allied Materials in Stroud, SYGMA, Teen Challenge in San Antonio, Texas, and later as a truck driver in the construction industry. Ralph was also a talented craftsman. He had a remarkable ability to work with his hands and could create quality pieces that looked as though they had been professionally made.

Life was not always easy for Ralph, particularly in the years following his military service. Those experiences, however, gave him an understanding of hardship that he was often able to use to help others who were facing struggles of their own. He understood that life could be complicated, and he could relate to people in a way that came from having walked through difficult seasons himself.

A few years ago, Ralph moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Prague to be closer to his family. Of all the things in his life, his children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He loved them deeply and took great pride in each of them.

Ralph also had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and they seemed to have a soft spot for him as well. He was a colorful character with plenty of opinions, and he was rarely afraid to share them. Those who knew Ralph knew where he stood, and his personality had a way of keeping everyone around him on their toes. He could be outspoken, spirited and uniquely himself.

Two phrases Ralph was particularly fond of seemed to capture something of the way he approached life: “Keep it simple” and “Ride boldly, ride.” Through the good times and the difficult ones, Ralph lived life in his own way, leaving behind stories, memories and a personality that will not soon be forgotten.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Britton and Virginia Plunkett, and his stepfather, Alvin Plunkett.

Those left to cherish Ralph’s memory include his sons, Ralph Britton and his wife, Amber, and Raymond Britton; his grandchildren, Shawn Britton, Colby Britton, Kaylee Britton, Connor Britton, Andrea Britton, Austin Bowen and Peyton Bowen; his sister, Darline Wilson and her husband, Bob; his brother, Jim Hightower; his nephews, Chris Wilson and Johnny Wilson; and a host of other family members and friends.
