Our mother, Lisa Lakins, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, at the age of 60. She was born on March 10, 1966, and was raised in Prague, Oklahoma, by her parents, James and Evelyn Lakins.

Lisa spent her life caring for people. As a nurse practitioner, she loved her work and her patients as if they were family. Caring for others was not simply what she did for a living. It was a reflection of who she truly was.

She also knew how to enjoy life. She loved to travel, loved concerts, and loved being near the ocean. The Caribbean held a special place in her heart, and few things made her happier than warm weather, beautiful water, and the chance to escape and experience something new.

Lisa is survived by her mother, Evelyn Lakins; her brothers, Tim Lakins and his wife, Susie, and Eric Lakins; her three sons, Kyler, Kaleb and his wife, Alyssa, and Kameron; her grandson, James; her “sister-in-love”, Angie; and her beloved dogs, Molly and Frankie. She also leaves behind nieces, cousins, great-nieces, a great-great-nephew, and many other family members, friends, patients, and people who were lucky enough to know her.

In accordance with her wishes, our family held a private viewing on August 30, 2026.

We will hold a celebration of her life at a later date on a beach, probably somewhere in the Caribbean. It will be planned by her three sons and grandson. We know she would love nothing more than having all of her boys together in one place, surrounded by the ocean she loved so much.

For now, we want to remember our mother for the life she lived, the people she cared for, the places she loved, and all of the stories that came with her.
