Janie Carol Warren, age 77, of Stroud, Oklahoma, passed away June 9, 2026, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Janie was born May 12, 1949 to Paul and Clarissa (Jones) Smith, in San Fernando Valley, California. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her brother James Smith, husband Terence, and a host of her four-legged and feathered friends.
She lived a life marked by devotion to her family, steadfast faith, and love that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her affectionately as their “Nanny.” A woman who loved Jesus deeply, she spent her life teaching others about His grace and goodness. She was a faithful member of Stroud First Assembly of God in Stroud, Oklahoma, where she found joy in worship, fellowship, and service.
On March 20, 1967, she was married to the love of her life, Terence John Warren, and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage until his passing on November 15, 2018. They raised and are survived by their three daughters, Leslie Husted and partner Phil Morgan; Lisha Worley and husband Steven; and Terilyn Basting and husband Joshua. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Sarah and husband Aric York; Samuel and wife Emily Gnehm; Cole Mays; Clarissa Hilbert and husband Kody; and Frank and Taylor Basting.
She also cherished her great-grandchildren Xanuel, Xaiden, and Xoie York; Rhiannon Gnehm; Remy Mays; and Brady and Baylor Hilbert, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy and filled her days with laughter.
Janie is survived by her brother Sam Smith and family, sister Patricia “Cookie” Horton, and Leann Smith and family, as well as countless friends and extended family.
Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the faith she lived out daily, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Stroud First Assembly of God in Stroud, Oklahoma. Dinner will begin at 5:00 PM with services following.
