Diane Sue Hampton, 74, of Tryon, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Diane was born on May 23, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Chester Peabody and Dorothy Esther (Turner) Smith. She attended school in Midwest City, Oklahoma, graduating from Midwest City High School in 1969. While in high school, Diane pursued her passion for caring for others by enrolling in a concurrent nursing program, earning her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) certification.
On December 30, 1993, Diane married David Edward Hampton in Van Buren, Arkansas, bringing together two families and creating a loving, blended home.
Diane dedicated her life to nursing, spending over 30 years caring for patients on the cardiac floor at St. Anthony Hospital in downtown Oklahoma City. She later continued her career at Cushing Hospital for 10 years. Outside of her work, Diane found joy in gardening and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Dorothy Smith; and a stepson, Harrison Edward Hampton.
She is survived by her husband, David Hampton; sons, Michael Todd Greer and wife Julie, Ryan Lee Hodges and wife Heather, and Seth Alan Hodges and wife Rachelle; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Smith and wife Linda, and Bruce Smith; stepdaughters, Ruby Regina Pennington, and Hannah Mae McClain; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
