Curtis Clayton Scroggins (III), died on September 3, 2026, at the home he shared with his wife and children in Prague, Oklahoma. He was born on January 14, 1986, in Hobart, OK, and grew up in Shawnee, OK. He moved his family to Prague in July of 2013. Curtis, Tera’s husband and father of her kids, will never be defined by the addiction that he went through. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and kids and creating new memories. Curtis's family that he will be leaving behind are his wife, Tera Scroggins (Miner) of Prague; his two kids, Cameron Scroggins and Kaitlynn Scroggins of Prague; his mother Deborah Anne Scroggins (Pinner) of Shawnee; his twin Rebecca Oden of Fort Gibson, Ok; his brother Joseph Scroggins of Shawnee; his mother-in-law Angela Chandler and husband Brian of Bristow, Ok; father-in-law, Terry Miner of Holdenville, Ok; brother-in-law Michael Miner and wife Jess of Connecticut; aunt Amy and husband Monty of Shawnee; his nieces and a nephew; as well as numerous friends.

The family that he will rekindle with in the afterlife will be his father, Curtis Clayton Scroggins (JR); grandmother, Jo Ella Elliott; and many brothers he lost along the way.

Curtis married the love of his life on August 25, 2006. They had been together since October 16, 2000. She was his best friend and always pushed him to follow his dreams and not let his past define him. They had their first child Kaitlynn in November 2006 and their second child Cameron in December 2009. He always wanted to spend time with his family and make up for lost time that the system took away. He enjoyed music most of all, as well as tattoos, sketching, fishing, going to the lake, riding the jet ski and tubing, rebuilding engines, working on cars, home repairs, cuddling, and playing with his dogs. He would go out of his way to help anyone even if they couldn’t return the kindness and had the biggest heart. He obtained his GED in 2004 and completed part of an associate's degree. He was currently trying to get into CDL school so he and his wife could travel after Cameron graduated.

His grandmother Jo Ella Pinner passed away in 2012. She was Curtis's guardian for most of his life. He loved her more than anything, and he was always trying to get better for her and his family. He went through a lot of hard times in life but was fighting hard to reshape his life.

Curtis was not defined by his struggle alone, but by the fact that he was fighting a relentless, exhausting battle against more than one illness very few people understood. He knew the good he wanted to do, even when the weight of the fight made it feel impossible to carry out, but his story isn't defined by the end of that war, it's defined by the fact he kept trying. Even when he fell, he got back up, picked up his spear and shield, and continued fighting. His kids are what kept him trying. May he finally find the peace and forgiveness he sought.

For I have the desire to do what is good but am struggling to carry it out." -"God himself will be with us and be our God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
