Obituary

Carloyn Louise Harrington Neely, age 76, of Stroud, Oklahoma, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and a host of loved ones on March 23, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 23, 1949, in Stroud, Oklahoma, to Preston “Buddy” Lavon Harrington and Wanda Louise (Stiner) Harrington.

Growing up, Carloyn was the oldest of four siblings, a role she carried with both strength and spirit. She was full of life and a bit of a spitfire, loving to ride horses, play softball and basketball, do somersaults and backbends, and even walk on her hands. She completed her education in Milfay School, graduating as salutatorian in 1967.

Carloyn was musically gifted. She played the piano, accordion, and organ, and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. She used her talent to sing gospel music for the Lord, often performing in church, revivals, and 4-H talent shows. It was at a revival in Oilton, Oklahoma, where she met a blonde-haired young man named Bobby Dale Neely. The two were united in marriage on April 14, 1968, at the Gypsy Holiness Church. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Vance Dale Neely and Angelia Jo Louise Neely.

Throughout her life, Carloyn worked in garment factories, served as a secretary for attorney Danny Beltz for several years and later retired from BancFirst in Stroud, Oklahoma. However, her greatest joy came from serving the Lord. She cherished her time as a youth leader at the Assembly of God Church in Stroud, often saying, “I miss teaching my kids.”

Carloyn loved her family with everything she had. She would go to great lengths for those she loved, and she did so time and time again. Her love was deep, unwavering, and selfless.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston “Buddy” Harrington and Wanda Louise (Stiner) Harrington; her beloved husband, Bobby Dale Neely; her in-laws, Alfred and Betty Poole; and her brothers-in-law, Dusty Poole and Larry Brown.

She is survived by her siblings; Dorothy Brown of Kellyville, Oklahoma; Sharaan Ronish and Daryl of Milfay, Oklahoma; Patrick Harrington and Oneta of Davis, Oklahoma.

She is also survived by her children; Vance Dale Neely and Gina of Ft. Rucker, Alabama, and Angelia Jo Louise Neely of Kansas City, Missouri.

She leaves behind five cherished grandchildren; Levi Grammer and Tiarra of Stroud, Oklahoma; Vance Austin Neely of Ft. Rucker, Alabama; Alexis Storie and Christopher of Stroud, Oklahoma; Ezekiel Cooper of Stroud, Oklahoma; and Lacy Elliott and Dylan of Mcloud, Oklahoma.

She was also blessed with eight great grandchildren; Evan Grammer, Reid Grammer, Remington Cooper, Ayden Storie, Oakley Storie, Logan Elliott, Hadley Storie and Olivia Grammer.

Her Life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will live on in all who knew her.
