Barbara was born on May 27, 1949, at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Great Lakes, Illinois. She passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the age of 77, at Stroud Health Care Center where she had lived for the past 19 years.
Barbara was born to Mary Vinetta Lewis Alexander and Paul Eugene Goodman. She spent most of her young life in Maysville, Oklahoma attending school through the 12th grade. After high school she lived and worked in many areas caring for others. She enjoyed music and being outside. She had a special love for dogs, especially her German Sheppard, ‘Nikki’.
Barbara was baptized at the age of 12 in the First Baptist Church in Maysville. She enjoyed church services at the Methodist Church in Stroud and all the services brought to SHCC. Her favorite was Bible Study with Bro James or Caleb. She would be the first one to the group and many times fell asleep before it was over.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Vinetta Alexander; her father, Paul Goodman; her close friend, Gene Dasher; and her beloved dog, Nikki.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Debbie Garrett; her brother, James (Jimbo) Alexander and wife Terri; her brother, John Alexander and wife Jackie; her niece, Vicki Keim; her nephew, Jason Keim and wife Eslie; her nephew, JT Alexander; as well as many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
She had so many special friends at SHCC including the staff and residents that made her life easy and enjoyable.
Visitation will be Friday, June 19, 2026 at Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud from 9am to 8pm.
A service celebrating Barbara's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Stroud Cemetery Pavilion.
Barbara’s friendship, laughter, demanding spirit and love for those around her will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
