Alice Faye Vandever, lovingly known by so many as Mema, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Alice was born on July 6, 1941, to John William and Lillie Florer. She grew up in and around Kendrick, Oklahoma, and graduated from Kendrick High School in 1959.

On March 12, 1959, Alice married the love of her life, John Wiley Vandever. Together, they shared a beautiful marriage until his passing in 2017. Throughout their years together, Alice and John enjoyed traveling and making memories. They were also the proud owners of Dan’s Barbecue for many years, where they became a familiar and cherished part of the community.

Alice lived a life filled with many passions and simple joys. She loved living in the country, listening to music of all kinds, and attending rodeos. She enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and found happiness in the many moments spent with family and friends. Alice also had a love for her country, Fourth of July was her favorite holiday, one that family gathered, celebrated with good food and fireworks. Among her greatest passions was playing the piano, a gift and joy that brought music into her life and the lives of those around her.

Above all, Alice cherished her family. Her love, laughter, strength, and presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will continue to live on through the generations.

Alice is survived by her son, Mike Vandever and wife Annita, and her daughter, Penny Foster and husband Jeff.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Nikki York and husband Billy, Lindsey Mudgett and husband Brandon, Ali Johnson and husband Hayden, Stephen Foster, Scott Foster, Jason Foster, Dusti Counts and husband James, and Johni Piper and husband Chad.

Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Kaled, Izabella, Abigail, Harli, Jude, Blaine, Halle, Bentleigh, Jacob, Jaxon, Rhett, Jenzen, Hayes, Lincoln, Olivia, Dani, Kash, and Dottie, as well as her great-great-grandchild, Lochlyn.

Alice’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer here, the love she gave, the memories she made, and the family she treasured will continue to carry her legacy forward.
