Shirley Ann George was born on May 5, 1942, in Amity, Arkansas, and departed this life on Thursday, April 2, 2015, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 72. Shirley, the daughter of Beebe Joe and Iva Louester (Brooks) Nutt, was a resident of Paden. She graduated from Live Oak High School with the Class of 1960. She married James Cox in Sacramento, California. They remained married until his death in 1965. Shirley then married Wayne Newton, they were married for 27 years. Shirley was a member of the Paden Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed square dancing and helping people. Shirley’s parents, husband, son, Joe Cox, two sisters, Emma and Donna and one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and June preceded her in death. Survivors include: ex-husband, Wayne Newton; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Libby Cox of Paden and David and Mary Jane Newton of Moore; granddaughters, April Ford, Hailey Clason, and Jennie Cox; 7 great grandchildren Cyan, Bobby, and Elsa Ford, Trae and Jacee Clason, Daniel and Daxton Cox; other family and friends. The Cox family will receive friends on Sunday, April 5, 2015 from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2015 at 10:00 AM, at Paden Cemetery in Paden with Bro. Jim Eastep officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
